It’s scary stuff—and the temptation, honestly, can be to turn away from the news and move on. So just how concerned should we be?

For one, we often accumulate higher levels of toxins in our body than men do, according to the 2010 President’s Cancer Panel. But it’s also because of how these substances behave once they’re inside our body. Scientists began to pinpoint some of the possible health risks of certain everyday chemicals back in the 1970s and 1980s, and what they found was startling: Many common chemicals may act like hormones or interfere with a woman’s own endocrine, or hormonal, system. (This came as no surprise; scientists first developed one chemical, bisphenol A, or BPA, in the 1930s with the hope of using it as a synthetic estrogen drug.)

Hormones tell your brain.

Why is the disruption of our hormones a problem? Because hormones aren’t just responsible for menstrual cycles and fertility; they are the messengers our cells rely on to communicate just about everything, explains Tracey Woodruff, Ph.D., director of the University of California, San Francisco, Program on Reproductive Health and the Environment. When you’ve eaten enough to sustain your body, it’s hormones that tell your brain to put down your fork. When one of your eggs has fully matured, it’s hormones that make your ovary release it. Muck with such a finely tuned process, and there’s bound to be trouble.

They get into our bodies

Today the suspects researchers are most concerned about read like a page in a chemistry textbook: BPA, phthalates and tributyltin (TBT). They get into our bodies in a variety of ways—from the air we breathe, the products we use and the food we eat. And experts say they can act as dangerous system-jamming signals. “Even when we’re exposed to only tiny amounts” of such so-called endocrine disruptors, explains Laura Vandenberg, Ph.D., a biologist at Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts, “it could throw crucial bodily processes—like our metabolism, fertility and immune system responses—into disarray.”

Yet, we continue to use these chemicals??

Yet less than one percent of the more than 80,000 chemicals in use in the United States have ever been safety tested. And many of those products have never been approved by the FDA: It simply isn’t required that items we handle be tested as thoroughly as, say, medications we ingest. But in one study, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found that 93 percent of Americans had BPA in their body. In essence, says Woodruff, “we’re performing a national experiment on ourselves while we continue to use these chemicals.”

Results are coming in.

And the results are starting to come in. Recently, the FDA—as well as groups like the Endocrine Society and the National Toxicology Program—has raised concerns about endocrine disruptors. And in March, eight scientific societies representing 40,000 professionals from fields like genetics and reproductive medicine wrote an open letter urging federal regulators to improve their testing of chemicals.

Highly Credible Evidence

“I’ve looked at the evidence—highly credible evidence—and there is definitely enough to warrant avoiding these chemicals,” says Pamela Peeke, M.D., assistant clinical professor of medicine at the University of Maryland in Baltimore and author of Body for Life for Women. “We suspect there are cancer risks and that some chemicals are also associated with fertility problems, as well as obesity.” So how can you live more safely in a world where chemicals are everywhere?

Do I travel in “Cyber Space”???

I am standing on the platform of a “Sky Train” that is heading for Vancouver. The railroad is about two storages high above ground. Yes, it’s laterally in the ski. These Sky trains have no drivers; they are controlled by a remote control station somewhere. A scary thought, they are cyberspace controlled online. Scary, yes a scary thought a run-away-train-without-a-driver. The train arrived, yes no driver.

Who is around me?

I found a  

I found a seat, I notice the man sitting opposite me was working on his laptop I was wondering if he was working on his online business. The young girl beside him was surfing the internet on her IPhone. A voice over the speakers announced the next station, I was wondering if it was a tape or a CD plying. More people climb on board. I noticed a lady reading her book on a NotePad, another person was deeply involved on her Ipad, at least 3 other people were on Smart Phones that was hooked up to a Blue Tooth device. A young Asian boy was listening to his Ipod, he was in his own world. The world around me was a different world than what I was used to in Africa during the 50’s and 60’s.

All these devices on the Ski Train reminded me of our own children who goes online most of their time at home these days. I asked myself, “are we living more in cyberspace than on earth”. I realize that this “article” will typed and soon be broadcasted online for anyone to read around the world. Statistics show that 1000s of new online businesses start every month and billions of Dollars will be generated. I read an article that said this “Cyberspace” trend will continue because this is just the beginning of a new era.

Where do I fit into all this?

I felt privileged that my own home-based business has been running online for more than a year and it is well established. The excitement of knowing that I can connect with people around the world and to get to know me, hopefully to like me and eventually to trust me as a well established my own name-brand that is operating online.

The sky train came to a stop, I packed up my briefcase and left the platform while the man was still on his laptop. The youngsters are still on their electronic devices. My thoughts lingered for a moment; maybe this man will come across my blog one day and read it, not even knowing that I included him in this article. Cyberspace, internet, remote controlled Sky trains all this amazes me how life can change in one lifetime.

I got off the Ski Train in downtown Vancouver, I asked myself, why is one of the richest men on earth so rich? Because Bill Gates made it possible to go online; the Internet became our friend and is changing the life of future generations. Desktops, Laptops, Notepads, Smart phones, Cell Phones, the list goes on – I do not follow it anymore; it follows me 24/7

My parents are turning in their graves.

I am sure my parents would have wondered how all this came about in such a short period of time. They both passed away before the word “online” had a different meaning (laundry online is different than cyberspace online and a “blue tooth had a different meaning).

What is the youth going to do in future?
The Internet became my friend; I made many friends in the process. I search and I obtain, I seek and I find, I have the biggest library in the world and it’s interactive.  Finally our TV viewing time has been limited to see the weather and headline news only, the rest is online.  Our youth of today is moving away from TV’s, Radio’s Newspapers, Magazines. Hi-Fi’s have been replaced by Ipod’s, DVD players are going out of style, it’s not for the youth anymore. What is happening is everything going into Cyberspace?

It is due to TOXINS that are lurking in our everyday products we use. The Toothpaste, Shampoo, Beauty products that we use may be the reason for the increase of prostate cancer, breast cancer and many other ailments.

Government intervention:
Everyone thinks the government and regulatory agencies out there have done their due diligence, but that is absolutely not the case. I made a huge mistake yesterday; I could sense the fear of failure in my bones. I asked, why me Lord?

Life at School.
I keep on telling my school kids that studying works differently than in real life: you first LEARN (= books) and then you write a TEST (= exam) about it to see if you QUALIFY (= rapport card) before you can move to something higher. The sequence is “Learn, Test, Qualify”. “Books, Exam, Rapport” Pass or Failure.

Life in the real world.
I told them when you leave school life changes completely: you first get a TEST (= Obstacles) so that you can LEARN (= Experience) from the obstacle, which makes you to QUALIFY (= Build character) to move to something bigger and better. The sequence has changed to “Test, Learn, Qualify”. “Challenge, Experience, Character” The latter one sounds very unfair, yet it is the most effective way of teaching individuals how to handle obstacles. Failure or succeed.

I have found that the moment I take my eyes of my goal, I start to get overwhelmed, I feel alone, I feel I am going to fail, it drags me further downwards, I lose control of my situation. My mind has let me down, my body follows and my day becomes unproductive.

Cold mornings are tough to get up. Yes, and our morning group is all about guidance and motivation and get ready. Janet Legere is our group facilitator and we are getting coached in order to Coach, Guide and motivate others. So, we must first get motivated, dedicated and focused, before we can assist others. Home Business owners can be lonely sometimes.

Technical challenges.

These technical issues have always dumped me in a frustrating mindset so much so that I started to look for something simpler.
